Has S7 pro Ultra got any new tricks four months after the release of Roborocks’s first multifunctional robot? And now, the new $800 machine has arrived, and we will slowly analyze it’s functions.
Speaking of appearance, S7 pro Ultra keeps the traditional design, except for the color. Basicaly, the robot is white with a touch of silver matte style without any indicator lights. The whole is more concise and more youthful. Overall, it’s looks more concise and fresh, but a little bit less advanced. So, how’s design, what do you think?
Use experience
While using the robot, I feel that the S7 pro Ultra is an upgraded version of Roborock S7+. How does the upgraded 5100Pa suction perform? We used melon seeds, rice, flour, and hair in the test, and the results were satisfactory. The cleaning rate reached 95% without any human control, and the rest 5% were some hair. The configuration of single rubber brush and high suction power is not only makes hair being hard to entangle on the brush , but also sharply increases the level of carpet cleaning. The main point is that the suction is much stronger, and it makes less noise than other robots of the Q7 series. You can feel that the noise of the rubber brush hitting the ground has become quiter, and the sound of automatic dust collection is not as harsh as before, so it looks like this function has been optimized.
Not only the sweeping performance of the new product is good, but the mopping performance is also great. Many people think that cleaning ability of the flat mop is not as good as cleaning ability of the rotary mop. First, let’s make 20ml of coffee stains, red wine stains, and then use Mijia dual-rotating mop robot and Roborock S7PRO to clean it. It can be clearly seen in the video that the cleaning ability of the S7PRO is higher than that the ability of the Mijia Dual Rotary Mop, which not only surprised me, but the Q7 flat mop that was tested not long ago is still behind the rotary mop
So, what’s the reason of the better perfomance? In addition to the better cleaning effect, Roborock is more grounded in the logic of sweeping and mopping. For example, the mop can be lifted and lowered, which can be returned to normal position without contaminating the carpet. Of course, it does not mean that the vibrating flat mop is better than the rotating mop. Mijia Robot which also uses flat-panel vibration, performs very well when mopping the floor. Therefore, whether the flat mopping floor is clean or not is not only related to the amplitude and vibration frequency, but also to whether there is an external water tank and the algorithm.
Base station function
Next let’s turn our attention back to the base station. The dust collection performance of the base station is amazing, even tiny dust particles such as flour can be completely sucked into the dust bag.
Moreover, it is much better than the double mop in washing the mop. The base station itself has a cleaning brush head module, which moves back and forth, left and right to strongly scrape the mop, and every time the mop is cleaned, the sewage will be automatically will be strongly sucked into the sewage. box. The washing effect is as good as if the robot were cleaned by hands.
The strongest point of the stone is the algorithm. It has always had advantages in scanning and mapping. It can clearly plan the path. It is also more comfortable than other brands in the use of APP. In addition, the program is compatible with Mijia. It took 80 minutes to clean up 76 square meters in the actual test, consumes 40% of the electricity, and the water tank consumes about 1L of water. You can make a reference according to your family area.
whining part
After you heard all of these, you may think that it’s too perfect to be true, so, don’t worry, the next part is the “whining part”.
The first thing we have to say is that Roborock becomes a “5+2” high-energy base station. Full of pitfalls. Why doesn’t it look like it’s in one piece? A year ago, the extremely advanced 15-cone cyclone, the dust collector without consumables, which was configured on the sS7+, was gone a year later. Such an advanced design really could blow up if combined together. However, it wasn’t applied for Roborocks robot. And it’s pretty understandable, after all, selling dust bags could also help to make a lot of money.
The S7 pro Ultra didn’t use the automatic water replenishment function of the the previous appliance, which is a good decision. However, the self-cleaning of the base station has not changed. Some “blind corners” are still exist, and there will still be a lot of pollute water in the places. In fact, we feel that this problem can be solved really simple. Increase the slope of the drainage, and move the suction port to the lower right corner, and then pull the slope to the lower right corner. If the time for evacuating the polluted water is a little longer, so much polluted water will not remain. If you are afraid that polluted water will stink after some time, we suggest you to add some disinfectant to the clean water tank, it might work.
Currently S7 pro Ultra does not support hot drying, and I don’t think it should be there for such price. After all, other manufacturers, products at this price will basically come standard with hot drying. However, the S7 pro Ultra has also thought about the air-drying mop. After the automatic washing, the mop will be re-directed, leaving enough space between the mop and the bottom of the base station, which helps the mop dry naturally. But anyway, the result is not so good. If you want the mop to dry well, I suggest you add a small fan.
Compared to S7+, the obstacle avoidance of S7 pro Ultra was not improved. It still relies on lasers and sensors to avoid obstacles. As shown by the test, there is no way for the robot to identify low objects. Compared with the MaxV Ultr, which equipped with RGB cameras and stereo sensing light, it cannot quickly identify obstacles and avoid them in advance. There is indeed a big differnce. So, I’d prefer to call it Stubborn Monster. (With various head iron pictures) However, this generation’s ability to get out of trouble has been greatly improved. When cleaning, we found out that Q7 can be easily trapped beetwen the chair legs, in contrast to S7 PRO, which can find the way out.

Well, I believe that through our evaluation, you have found that cleaning robots are becoming more and more automated, in addition to basic performance, the detailed design is very solid. As a representative of the leading brand of sweeping robots, S7 pro Ultra is quite good though. Its cleaning, mopping and self-cleaning performance has almost reached the highest level of performance in the industry. However, there is no further improvement in software performance. For example, S7 MaxV Ultra has Intelligent cleaning planning, and also allows you to set the time for floor sweeping and cleaning. This may also be due to the lack of a camera and a stereo photoreceptor. After using the sweeper with AI recognition, it is still a big gap to find out whether there is a camera or not.
In general, the purpose of this Roborock’s S7 pro Ultra release is to lower the price threshold of the robot. On the premise of ensuring basic performance, the function of the camera is castrated, the purchase threshold of the all-rounder is lowered, and consumers’ desire to purchase is increased.
