Solista12L electric oven review: small appliances with good looks.

Nowadays, electrical appliances for cooking food are very abundant, and all kinds of food have their corresponding cooking appliances. If you want to eat more delicious food at home, in addition to your own cooking skills, you must also have good appliances to help, so that the process of making food will be twice the result with half the effort.

If you want to bake bread or barbecue at home, the simplest and most efficient appliance is the oven. The oven can accurately control the temperature and time. The average family will buy a large-capacity oven. But if you live alone, or you just want to experience the functions of the oven first, buying a small-capacity oven is a preferred choice.

Just recently Mijia launched a small 12L oven: Solista electric oven. Let’s have a practical experience to see if it can meet the needs of grilled food.

[Appearance details]

The packaging is still the usual Mijia style. It is made of corrugated paper with a line drawing of the oven printed on it.

After opening the package, take out the oven. The overall oven is small and round. The front has a simple shape, and two-thirds of the area is a half-lens tempered glass panel. The bottom is dotted with two mechanical knobs, one white and one yellow. It looks nice from all angles.

Especially the yellow mechanical timing knob is the finishing touch of the whole design. Up to 60 minutes can be timed. The white mechanical knob is used to set the temperature between 100 and 200°C. The basic functions of the oven are essential.

The top of the glass panel is a long strip handle. When opening and closing the oven panel, the internal grill is linked with the panel through a connecting rod. The grill protrudes when the panel is opened, and retracts when the panel is closed.

There are two rows of heat dissipation holes on the left and right sides of the oven. There are triangle tips on the top to remind high temperature.

There are four black support legs at the bottom of the oven. In addition, there is a residue tray made of galvanized steel sheet that can be withdrawn. Used to pick up food residues and fats that fall to the bottom during the baking process.

Open the oven door, you can see the single-layer metal grill inside. Of course, you can also see a quartz heating tube with steel plate protection on the top and bottom. The power of the upper heating tube is 500W, and the power of the lower heating tube is 300W. The total maximum power of the whole machine is 800W.

In addition, in addition to the instructions, a metal bakeware and an 8-page card-style small recipe are presented in the accessories.

In terms of appearance, the SOLISTA 12L small oven, like most Mijia products, is definitely a category that can be attracted at first glance. In addition, the price remains close to the people, which can easily cause consumer urges.

[Appearance details need to be improved]

Some problems will be discovered gradually. First of all, one thing I don’t understand is this black power cord. The whole machine is white, why can’t it be replaced with a white power cord?

Secondly, the workmanship details need to be improved. Look at this cocked corner, although it will not affect the use, but it still looks uncomfortable.

Also, I feel that the accessories given are a bit less. If there is an extra clip for taking the bakeware in the accessories, even an insulated glove, it will make consumers feel more intimate.

【Actual operation】

The operation method is very simple. The oven temperature was set at 200°C and it took one hour to bake a small sweet potato. The taste is okay.

But when you bake food, you should first search for good recipes on the Internet. So as to avoid the situation of food burnt.

During the roasting of sweet potatoes (set temperature at 200°C), the temperature was measured before and after holding the temperature gun (not very rigorous). The top temperature is close to 100℃, and you can feel hot when you touch it with your fingers.

The temperature near the side radiating holes is about 65℃, and the fingers will also feel very hot when touched for 1-2s. Direct exposure to such high temperatures in the family environment is still dangerous, especially in families with children. I don’t know if the same is true for similar products, but I still feel that certain heat insulation measures should be taken to be safer.

The temperature of the front toughened glass panel is also higher, around 92°C. Warn children to stay away while roasting sweet potatoes. The temperature of the front edge part also reached 62.3°C. However, because the handle part is in partial contact with the panel and the oven box, the temperature is not high, and it can be operated directly at 34°C.

The temperature of the bottom metal residue tray is lower than expected (it was originally thought that the metal residue tray would be difficult to remove because of hot hands), 46°C. It shouldn’t be a big problem to pull it out by hand after baking. But the first time I was cautious, it was pulled out with a paper towel, and it didn’t feel hot.

Because there is no tool to take out the bakeware directly. The temperature of the bakeware measured after being left for 2 minutes was about 109°C.

Generally speaking, the temperature range of 100℃-200℃ in this small oven is a little too small, and some foods that require high-temperature baking may be difficult to process. But it should be barely enough for novice daily use.

[Limitations of small volume]

In addition to the small temperature zone, another issue that may make foodies feel constrained is volume. Although such an oven is small in size, it is convenient to place at home and saves space. But the volume of 12L is really small. As a comparison with a can of Coke, SOLISTA can barely fit 4 cans (just to show the volume, remember that canned drinks cannot be heated in the oven!). In terms of food, the official saying is that you can process 8 chicken wings or 8 skewers of vegetables or 2 steaks or 4-inch cakes at a time.

As mentioned in the opening paragraph, such a small oven is indeed more suitable for singles or parents and children. If you switch to two adults with normal food intake, you may be unable to do so.

【Conclusion】

Overall, this 12L small oven from SOLISTA is still satisfactory to me. Although there are some shortcomings in the details and lack of humanized guidance that Mijia should have, there is absolutely no feeling of loss. If your home doesn’t have many requirements for grilled food, this small and cute oven will be a good choice.
