When I received this alarm, I realized that the volume of this thing was unexpectedly small. The packaging box is about the same size as the Xiaomi smart gateway.
The package includes the main body of the Mijia smoke alarm, installation base, battery, manual, and a set of installation accessories.
There is only one button on the smoke alarm body for silence and self-check. In daily use, if the alarm sounds but the fire is ruled out, press this button to make the alarm silence. Because mist sprayed by spray insecticides, cosmetics, etc. may trigger the alarm, indoor cigarettes, mosquito coils and other smoke may also trigger the sensor.
The self-check function can check whether the smoke alarm is working normally. Generally speaking, the alarm needs to be tested once a month to ensure that the alarm is in a normal state.

Installation
Installation Precautions:
- The alarm should keep a distance of more than 50cm from the lighting equipment (both longitudinal and horizontal);
- Do not install in the bathroom;
- When the cabinet is close to the ceiling, the alarm should be kept at least 60cm away from the cabinet; it should be kept at least 150cm away from the ventilating fan, air conditioner and vent (this should be a physical reason, the smoke is lighter than the air, and the range hood is generally higher);
- It is recommended to use self-tapping screws and expansion tubes for installation (although the fuselage and the battery are not heavy, it is not good if it falls and hits the head);
- Don’t forget to install the battery before installing.
- When using paste installation, it is necessary to check whether the paste is firm and prevent it from falling.
Use
Mijia smoke alarm can work independently. But to achieve remote push and linkage, it must be bound to the Mijia smart gateway.
Zigbee wireless connection is adopted between the smoke alarm and the gateway. The binding process is very simple. Open the Mijia APP and find the multi-function gateway to enter the secondary page. Find the device page, and click Add sub-device at the bottom. Then select the smoke alarm on the sub-device page.
Follow the APP prompts. Press the button three times quickly to enter the binding mode. It will soon show that the addition is successful.
The bound smoke alarm has some options that can be easily set. The first is to link the gateway to alarm, so that once a fire occurs, not only the smoke alarm can sound, but the gateway can also sound and light the alarm; the sensitivity of the alarm can be set; the other is the equipment self-check and self-check reminder. It is best to turn on the self-check reminder here to ensure the normal operation of the equipment.
Generally speaking, smoke alarms are installed on the ceiling. For some devices that cannot remotely self-check through APP, it is troublesome to climb a ladder to press the self-check button on the device every time. The Mijia smoke alarm can be used for remote self-checking directly through the APP, which greatly facilitates the use and operation.
I set up the linkage mode. Install a smoke sensor, smart gateway and smart camera. Once the fire is detected, the linked camera will push the video to my mobile phone. With this code, I can know whether there is an abnormality in the house the first time, and then choose whether to notify the fire alarm to put out the fire.
To test its sensitivity, I ignited a piece of paper and experimented with the smoke produced.
After the alarm detects the smoke, the indicator light starts to light up in red, and there is a gradual ticking sound; at the same time, the linked smart gateway also sounds an alarm and starts to flash red light. The camera quickly took a video and sent it to my mobile phone. In this way, in case something happens, I can quickly connect the camera to view the real-time situation at home.
Regardless of remote and linkage, using this as an independent smoke alarm can also play a warning role indoors. Because the alarm sound is really loud. Two meters away from the actual measurement, the decibel meter can detect a 90.1dB alarm sound.
